Where is my LRE badge?

I bought a white convertible with red top and red leather in Italy.
On the invoice there is mentionned Red Edition.
So I bought a LRE in Italy but don't have the badge.

I ordered a certificate and it states clearly that the car was ment for the Italian market.

I checked with another owner of a LRE and apparantly, the VW dealership can not order the badge.

Now I need your help. Can somebody (maybe with the help of the ID number of the car check at an Italian VW dealer if mine is indeed a LRE and if a badge can be ordered?

PS I cannot order it in Belgium as the LRE was not introduced here. I already checked.

Ho chiesto ad un altro proprietario di una GNU LRE e sembra che la rete vendita della Volkswagen non possa ordinare il logo [quello applicato al cofano posteriore].

Ora ho bisogno del vostro aiuto. Qualcuno potrebbe (magari con l'aiuto della targa) verificare presso un concessionario Volkswagen se la mia GNU è effettivamente una LRE e se si può ordinare il logo?

Well, the certificate is adamant: the car matches the italian specifications and, since it is a MY2008, it has to be a LRE. This time I'm sure of it...
(The "real expert", whose nick name is AAA, will possibly confirm this)

Wich means: the badge has been removed (or has been lost), somehow. I really can't imagine why, but here we are...

As for getting the badge form the dealer: almost certainly it has a part number; maybe you can get it from a dealer in you country by giving him the part number of the badge. It is only an idea, but it may be worth trying: I was able to get some bespoke splash guards with this "trick".

The problem is: I don't know the part number. I'm paying a visit to my local dealer because of some spare parts I need, and if nobody will have been able to give you the part number, I'll ask for it and post here the answer, if I'll get one.

Per prendere il logo da un concessionario: quasi certamente ha un numero di codice articolo; forse puoi trovarlo dal concessionario dandogli il numero di codice articolo del logo. È solo un'idea, ma può valere la pena provare: ho recuperato un paio di paraspruzzi specifici con questo "trucco".

Il problema è: non conosco il numero di codice articolo. Passerò a breve dal mio concessionario per via di alcuni ricambi di cui ho bisogno, e se nessuno sarà stato in grado di darti il numero di codice, glelo chiederò e posterò la risposta, se me ne sarà data una.

I already checked with my VW Dealership but he cannot find it in the system.
I also called the Belgian importer of VW (D'Ieteren) and they didn't want to help me because they have never imported the LRE in Belgium. I have many problems with the attitude of our importer. I even went to court for another case but lost it. They just have too much power...

I would really appreciate it if you or one of the fellow club member can check it for me (if dealership is not too far of course) and possibly order it for me.

Ho già chiesto al mio concessionario ma non riesce a trovarlo nel sistema.
Ho anche chiamato l'importatore Belga ma non hanno voluto aiutarmi siccome loro non hanno mai importato la LRE in Belgio. Ho molti problemi con l'atteggiamento del nostro importatore. Sono anche andato in tribunale per un'altra faccenda ma ho perso. Hanno troppo potere...

Mi farebbe molto piarece se tu o un altro membro del club potesse chiedere (se il concessionario non è troppo lontano) e magari ordinarlo per me.

Il mio Chili si merita davvero questo badge.

This happens because the LRE badge doesn't need to be "visible" to the belgian dealership, since the Limited Red Edition did never come officially to you country. You cannot find the badge if you call it "by name", thus.

I hope you'll be able to get it when its part number will be discovered, fi there's one.


Questo accade perché non serve che il logo LRE sia visibile alla rete di distribuzione Belga, visto che la Limited Red Edition non è mai arrivata ufficialmente nel tuo paese. Così non puoi trovare il logo se lo chiami "per nome".

Spero che riuscirai a recuperarlo quando verrà scoperto il suo numero di codice articolo, se ne ha uno.

I've been talking with Antonello (AAA) about the badge matter. He has got an american car, a Turbo S, therefore he really knows something about spares and stuff form another market.

He says, the first answer is always "this doesn't exist", which is quite absurd, since the car has been built with that piece in the first place. The answet to that problem, he says, is to persevere and keep on asking, maybe to other dealers, too.
You need the VIN of your car, which you have because of the certificate*, and a lot of patience.
Knowing the part number of the badge would help you a lot, of course... I hope we can help you with that matter very soon.

However, AAA has been adamant on one respect: if you go to the dealership with your VIN they must get you any piece of your car, from the biggest to the smallest.

So... this is a good luck form the whole Community!

Ho parlato con Antonello (AAA) della questione del logo. Antonello ha un'auto americana, una Turbo S, perciò ne sa parecchio di pezzi di ricambio e roba proveniente da altri mercati.

Mi ha detto che la prima risposta è sempre "questo non esiste", che è abbastanza assurdo, visto che la macchina è stata costruita con quel pezzo . La soluzione del problema è perseverare e continuare a chiedere, magari anche ad altri concessionari.
Hai bisogno del numer di telaio della tua auto, che hai visto che hai reperito il certificato*, e molta pazienza.
Conoscere il codice articolo del logo certamente ti aiuterebbe molto... spero che ti riusciremo ad aiutare presto, con quello.

Comunque, AAA è stato chiarissimo su un punto: se vai dal concessionario con il tuo numero di telaio, devono essere in grado di procurarti qualsiasi pezzo dell'auto, dal più grande al più piccolo.

Quindi... buona fortuna da tutta la Community!

Yes, it is quite common for "special edition" badges to be applied in the country of destination. You should contact Autogerma, the Italian distributor and ask for the part code. Then with this number you can place an order everywhere in the world. Well, the Limited Red Edition wasen't really a "Limited" edition, was it? I mean: it has been in the market since 2007 (?) and it has been possible to get a new one until very recently. In fact until the New Beetle has gone out of production...
I'd be confident that, because of the not-really-limited number of LRE sold here, the spare should be still around and you should still be able to place an order for it. Very possibly you will have to wait for the badge a long time, though.
Anyway: shouldn't the availability of spares be granted for a given period of time, even for (properly) limited editions? Like the Kite, for instance.

They have then confirmed what AAA said: all you need is your car's VIN and any dealer can find any part of your car, no matter where it was meant to be sold.

If they refuse to help you again, we may then figure out a way to.

Sono appena tornato dalla concessionaria e ho qualche notizia: gli ho chiesto se cortesemente mi potevano dare il numero di ricambio del logo LRE, e mi hanno risposto: "certamente, tutto quello di cui abbiamo bisogno è il numero di telaio dell'auto del tuo amico."
Poi hanno confermato quello che ha detto AAA: tutto quello di cui hai bisogno è il numero di telaio della tua auto ed ogni concessionaria può trovare qualsiasi parte della tua auto, indipendentemente dal mercato al quale era destinata.

Unfortunately here in Italy the bandage is not available. And this one seems the only feasible solution.

Per averla letta l'ho letta Fede... anzi ho fatto di meglio... e mi dispiace per la buona volotà di Lorenzo ma...

Sono andato per ben 2 volte alla Vw Via Vai (MC) e 1 alla Vw Marche Motori (An) con il mio numero di telaio quindi per un totale di 3. E dai loro Pc ETKA non risulta il Badge LRE.

Quindi o sù in Lombardia sono piu seri o sono dei veri e propri maghi....

Se vuoi riuscite effettivamente a trovarlo dalla Vw per Tommy bene, io il mio aiuto l'ho messo a disposizione.
